Terms

Terms and conditions

The short version: this is my personal site, everything here is general information rather than advice, and you are welcome to share the free guides as long as you credit me and do not sell them.

Who you are dealing with

This site is run by me, Aftab Mahmud, from Sydney, Australia. If anything here needs a person rather than a page, write to hello@aftab.work and it reaches me directly.

Using this site

By reading this site, downloading a guide or joining the newsletter, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Everything here is free. There is nothing to buy, no account to create, and no payment details are ever collected.

Views are my own

This is a personal site, written in a personal capacity and in my own time.

Nothing on it is published on behalf of my employer, approved by my employer, or endorsed by my employer, and nothing here should be read as their position on anything. Where I describe applying AI inside a large organisation, I am describing my own experience in general terms. I do not write about my employer's systems, data, customers or decisions, and I do not name them.

General information, not advice

The guides, the newsletter, the videos and everything else here are general information. They are not professional, legal, financial, security or employment advice, and they are not a substitute for advice from someone who knows your situation.

AI tools change quickly, and what is sensible in one workplace can be against the rules in another. Before you use any tool on real work, check your own organisation's policies, approvals and data rules. Those come first, every time. What you do with anything you read here is your decision and your responsibility.

The free guides

Please share them. You may pass a guide on to a colleague, post it, quote from it or use it in your own work, at home or at your job, as long as two things stay true: credit me as the source, ideally with a link back to aftab.work, and do not sell it, put it behind a paywall, or present it as your own work.

That is the whole licence. If you want to do something else with a guide, ask me and the answer will usually be yes.

The rest of the site

The words, images, design and code on this site are mine and stay mine. Normal quoting with credit is welcome. Copying a page wholesale, or republishing the site's content as your own, is not.

Fair use of the site

Please do not try to break, overload or get around any part of this site, submit other people's email addresses to the forms, or use the contact address for unsolicited pitches. If a signup looks automated it gets removed.

The newsletter

If you join, you get AI Bytes, roughly weekly, plus a short welcome series when you first sign up. You confirm your address from your inbox before anything else is sent, so nobody can be added without their say so.

You can leave from the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, and that takes effect immediately. What happens to your email address, and what I do not do with it, is set out in the privacy policy.

Links to other places

This site links out, mostly to my YouTube channel and occasionally to tools or articles worth reading. Those places have their own terms and their own privacy practices, and I am not responsible for what they do or for what they publish. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the other end of it.

Availability

This is a personal site run by one person. It may change, move or be offline from time to time, and pages, guides or issues may be updated or removed. Nothing here is promised to stay where it is or to keep working.

Your rights, and where I stand

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Those rights come first and these terms do not touch them.

Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows: the site and the guides are provided as they are, without warranty that they will be accurate, complete, current or fit for a particular purpose, and I am not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, the guides or the newsletter, or from anything you decide to do based on them.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms as the site changes. The current version always lives at this address, with the date below showing when it last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales have jurisdiction over anything arising from them.
